Perris Raceway: T2.R2
Perris Raceway is one of those tracks that has been around for a long time. Not too many tracks have survived the I will sue if I get hurt methodology. Perris has quite a unique dirtbike track. Excluding the fact that they are the only Socal track open on Wednesday nights till 9:00 pm, we will roll into pros and cons.
Pros:
- Perris Raceway is not one of the tracks that is talked about too much. I don’t really understand why that might be the case. The vet track is awesome. The jumps aren’t too large, nor are they scary. The main is awesome has a huge hill jump in the back and a chance to learn what it feels like to kind of hit a double after the finish line jump. There aren’t a lot of tracks with the courage to leave jumps like that in there day to day riding.
- Both tracks have a lot of flow and chemistry, getting comfortable and finiding your pace is quite do able on either of them.
- The dirt has a nice base that isn’t to dry or to wet. Perris would be a great track to learn ruts on, they form pretty early in the day.
- This track is great for fundamental learning, it will teach you bike control and the need to carry speed. There is no question the Perris Raceway is an awesome track!
Cons:
- The track gets really dry on hot days & really wet in the cold rainy season. Trying to have a common set up for Perris is not easy.
- There are some really fast guys out there, it tends to make doing a full lap if your a nervous rider difficult on the main.
- They only have two tracks, which forces all of the slower group guys onto the vet track because they feel like they can’t complete a lap on the main.
- The jumps reach a point where they feel too easy. They are fun at first, but once you know how to do them, you can easily become bored.
- Wednesday nights are way crowded, which makes trying to learn the main almost impossible if your not fast. There are some great riders out here on wednesday’s. Just hold your line or pull out of the way and you will have fun!
Overall Thoughts:
- Perris Raceway is a track most people have come to love once they ride there a few times. I believe that it has made me a better and smarter rider. The fact that it is open on Wednesday nights is awesome; just hold your line, and you will have a blast. Just keep in mind there will be those guys who are great riders flying by; they will go around you, so don’t put too much thought into it. We all start somewhere.
